“A Soul’s Pilgrimage: My 40 Days and 40 Nights Fasting Journey”
Testing the Waters: From Simple Desires to Profound Spiritual Quests
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I am Noel Christopher, and I am here to share with you the incredible journey that led me to embark on a 40-day and 40-night Chossen fast. It wasn’t a decision I made lightly; it didn’t happen overnight, nor was it a straightforward path. It all began with a simple desire to test my willpower and gain control over my eating habits. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could resist the temptations of food.
As time went on, my motivations for fasting evolved. I realized that staying healthy in my old age was vital, so I embraced other challenges, such as taking cold showers morning and before bed, “My wife used to say. “ You are like an ice block”. I was hoping it would bring additional benefits to my well-being. However, life had other plans for me. The unexpected passing of my younger brother, Solomon, due to throat cancer shook me to my core. His final words left a lasting impact on my soul, urging me to explore more into the power of belief, imagination, and faith.
These events stirred something deep within me, and my fasting journey began to take on a more profound spiritual dimension. In 2021, I experimented with shorter water fasts of 3 and 7 days. While they were meaningful experiences, they didn’t fully align with the biblical concept of fasting. I knew there was more to discover, so I set my sights on incorporating prayer and diving deeper into the scriptures.
The turning point came in 2022 when I decided to challenge myself with 21 and 22-day water fasts. During this time, I immersed myself in prayer and devotion, and something extraordinary started to happen. I felt an overwhelming desire to serve God and seek His truth. My heart was open to receiving divine guidance through dreams, visions, and prophecies, signs that I was drawing closer to the divine.
And then, on November 5th, 2022, a significant day arrived. I made a firm decision to embark on a 40-day Jesus fast, a dedicated time of prayer and worship, seeking God with my entire being. With a humble heart, I surrendered myself to the Almighty, confessing and seeking forgiveness for both remembered and forgotten sins. The days were spent pouring my heart into completing my website, writing notes on fasting, and immersing myself in the words of the Bible.
As the nights approached, my mind was filled with contemplation, exploring biblical keywords, questioning, and seeking understanding. I found myself wrapped in powerful dreams that felt like divine revelations as if God Himself was guiding me on this journey.
As the 40-day journey progressed, I felt the unmistakable presence of the Holy Spirit surrounding me. Prayer and reading the Bible became second nature, and my desire to serve God grew stronger with each passing moment.
But this long-term fast was not without its challenges. It brought about a profound sense of humbleness, and my prayers became emotional and powerful. I found myself seeking forgiveness not only for my own sins but also for any pain I may have caused others. In these moments, I felt like a child, laying bare my soul before God, asking for forgiveness after being reprimanded.
Throughout this spiritual path, I couldn’t help but wonder why fasting was rarely spoken about in churches and sermons. The deeper I delved into my journey, the more I understood that fasting was a profoundly personal and intimate experience between an individual and God. It was a transformational process that only those who genuinely sought it could fully comprehend.
So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is why I embarked on a 40-day and 40-night fast—to seek God, to find the truth, and to surrender myself completely to His will. My journey continues, and my pursuit of understanding the divine remains unwavering. Fasting has become a powerful spiritual catalyst, leading me closer to God with each passing day. I share this story with you not to boast of my experiences but to inspire and encourage you on your own unique spiritual journey. May we all draw closer to God through fasting and prayer, finding strength, humility, and guidance in the divine connection we seek.
